A useful loot filter starts with what your character needs, not what another player has stopped picking up. Whether you are comparing Hero Siege Items or sorting drops after a farming session, the same question should guide your decisions: which item could solve the problem holding back your next difficulty step.

Moving from Nightmare into Hell makes that question more important. A filter should evolve alongside your equipment, keeping potential upgrades visible without turning every run into an inventory inspection.

Let Your Weakest Slot Set the Priorities

Before tightening your filter, inspect your equipment and identify your biggest limitation. If incoming damage keeps ending runs, defensive improvements deserve attention. If enemies take too long to defeat, your weapon and offensive modifiers may need a closer look.

Resistance needs should influence which drops you inspect, but they should not become your only criterion. An item that fixes one defensive weakness can still cost too much damage or another useful stat. Judge the complete replacement rather than a single attractive number.

For a character seeking stronger skill modifiers, keep relevant equipment categories visible while narrowing unrelated drops. Where the filter cannot express your exact priorities, leave room for manual inspection instead of assuming it can recognize every worthwhile upgrade.

Tighten Visibility After Upgrades, Not Before

An early progression filter should leave room for ordinary improvements. Hiding too much while several slots remain weak can make a character feel stuck even when useful equipment is dropping.

After replacing a weak weapon or resolving a defensive shortfall, revisit the corresponding filter choices. You can become more selective in that area while keeping unfinished slots comparatively open. This creates a smoother transition than switching immediately to an extremely restrictive setup.

Test each revision during a few normal runs. Notice how often you inspect drops, how much inventory space they consume, and whether any become genuine upgrades. If almost nothing visible helps, check your rules before assuming that progression requires longer farming sessions.

Keep a Small Window for Future Value

Not every worthwhile drop belongs in your current equipment. Crafting plans and alternative builds can justify keeping selected categories visible, even when those items offer no immediate improvement.

The key is having a specific reason. Reserve space for materials or equipment tied to an actual project, rather than saving everything that might someday matter. A useful exception supports a plan; an unrestricted exception recreates the clutter you wanted to remove.

Review those exceptions whenever your goals change. The best filter reflects your next achievable upgrade, not an imagined finished character.

Even when browsing Hero Siege Items for sale, use that same upgrade plan to evaluate equipment, keeping your attention on meaningful improvements rather than impressive-looking drops.
